Chris Swift - Senior Project Manager
Chris has been with Lay’s since 1997. His training began as a journeyman carpenter specializing in weatherization, framing, and finish carpentry. He brings an in-depth, hands-on knowledge of how best to approach difficult and complex construction projects. Chris’ skills as a project manager make him highly sought after - many customers specifically request Chris for their projects. In his spare time, Chris enjoys football, action movies, and high-tech toys.

Our Crew:
Our carpenters are journeyman trained in all phases of homebuilding construction and weatherization. From vapor barrier, siding, caulking, painting, windows, doors, roofing, infiltration reduction, insulation, mechanical components or dealing with any part of the building envelope, our crew has the expertise to deal with these projects properly and with reliable results.

Our crew is frequently dispatched and relied upon for immediate remedies to weatherization issues and problems. It is the expertise of Lay’s Construction to specifically deal with these types of projects expediently and efficiently. Not only is our crew well versed in tackling these tasks, but also our Senior Project Manager, Chris Swift, spent several years in the field as a journeyman carpenter and has brought his first-hand knowledge and expertise to the way these projects are bid and managed. In addition, our painters are Union trained journeymen who are familiar and proficient with all types of interior and exterior finishes on multiple surfaces including wood, metal, gypsum, plaster, and wallpaper.

Our Approach:
Lay’s Construction provides a unique approach to project management that helps set it apart from its peers. In addition to our high quality workmanship, at the heart of every project we do is a deep rooted commitment to excellent service, communication, and professionalism. Highly detailed estimates and tight, efficient production schedules are trademarks to our performance. These are factors that you won’t find with every other contractor. "Lay’s has worked on our homes and offices over many years; we are very pleased to note that Lay’s Construction has always delivered quality, professional service." - Dave Buchner

Our project managers take every assigned project from start to finish; they meet with the customer at the site, write the job estimate, coordinate and manage the production, and see the whole thing through to completion and satisfaction. This helps to keep continuity and consistency with all projects from beginning to end.

Every project is started with a pre-defined cost budget and a production schedule. By using a production schedule, it helps to anticipate any long lead material items or tasks to be completed that may cause future problems or job completion delays. This process also helps to indentify all subcontractors with the in-house employee tasks so as to keep the job moving smoothly and maintain the projected completion date.

In addition, this effective means of scheduling allows us to efficiently manage and maintain many simultaneous projects in multiple job locations. It is not uncommon for a single project manager to have 15 or 20 ongoing projects in various stages of completion at a single time.

Our success to this approach is greatly due to the reliability and performance of our superintendent, field crews, and sub-contractors. Our experienced crew and long-standing relationships with sub-contractors (many over 15 years, and one over 40 years) allows us a greater reliability and quality than is generally expected from a run-of-the-mill general contractor. Superintendents and Project Managers perform regular jobsite visits to physically inspect and review quality and progress during production.
